Water has a significant role for Balinese Hinduism. So it is always needed in daily life fr0m the activities like cooking, showering, praying, and drinking. Blessing ceremony is done when people gets a bad dream, a heavy sickness, feel restless, and celebrating full moon. Blessing is to refine the bad energy in human body or mind in order to reach the serenity of mental health. The best time for doing a purification ceremony is on full moon. Furthermore, it can be done in many places such as on the beach, river, water temple, and on water resources as long as accompanied with the complete offering and sincere praying.
In addition, one of the holiest spring for doing a purification ceremony is at Tirta Empul Temple. It was built in 17 century by Shri Kesari Warmadhewa. This water temple has a unique local folktale that has been passed down to the generation to come. It is about a massive war between the god of Indra manisfested as god of weather and a greedy king of Mayadenawa . Shortly, god indra healed their soldier with the holy water from shooting his weapon to the ground then holy water came up. The word Tirta Empul is derived from the word Tirta means holly water, and Empul means the spring water. It is believed to cure many kind of different deseas and eliminating the black magic. There are three different pool that have a different functions. The first pool is to cure the ilnesses such as skin desease, bone pain, elimanating a bad dream, mental health, etc. Next pool is to remove the spell such as love spelled, black magic, parent, god, and ancestors. and the last not least is for everything or the main holy water. in conclution, blessing ceremony will work on you if you believe and do it sincerely.
